Tumble dryer on top of washing machine

Hi, apologies in advance for a boring question. I am having a bit of a brain fog..
I am looking to get a tumble dryer to out on top of our Samsung washing machine. Does it matter which brand dryer I get? I will get the same loading capcity (8kg) but don't know if brand had to be the same..

Thanks

Not at all.  Just check the dimensions of the washing machine support the dryer, and that the instructions for the washer don't say not to stack anything on top.
  • Do Samsung make a stacking kit for the washer you have?
Depending on the drier, it might be best to either remove any feet that it has or to put a board on the top of the washing machine before putting the drier on to avoid any possibility of damage to it.

It may move about when the washer is on spin. Any practical DIYer can sort out a way of stopping that or you can get universal stacking kits.

Definitely try to find a stacking kit.  Even the most well balanced washing machine will have some vibration, particularly during the spin cycle.  The last thing you want is the tumble dryer throwing itself off the top.

When you buy the tumble dryer make sure the door opens the same way as your washing machine else it will really get on your nerves. I'd personally buy the same make/range for aesthetics.

The generic stacking kits with a pull out shelf make loading the dryer much easier.
We've got rubber feet under our washer that take some of the vibration out of the full spin,  but it still rattles enough to dislodge anything we keep on top of the dryer!

I can also recommend the stacking kits with a pull out shelf. Makes loading the machine much easier. Our stacking kit came with a ratchet strap to keep both machines together tightly so there's minimal vibration
