Skim bathroom ceiling

Hi all, I've removed the manky woodchip paper from my bathroom ceiling. It's a bit of a mess under there. Hopefully clear from the photo. Am I right that giving it a skim coat of multifinish plaster is the thing to do? Do I need to scrape any more of the old adhesive first? Do I need a coat of PVA first? And is it a…

Put some 2.2mm fibres in with the water (whisk real well first) - This will help to stop the plaster from cracking, but will also speed up the set time. To counter this, a teaspoon of citric acid or cream of tartar added to the water will slow the set time (or you could use Eazymix Extratime).
