Brand new fridge/freezer not cooling down

Wasn't quite sure where to put this, so hopefully it counts as techie stuff. Anyway, last week our old Fridge/Freezer died, so we purchased a new Bosch 'american style' Fridge/Freezer. Arrived Thursday, as advised by delivery folks waited four hours before turning it on, and then ... nothing. Temperature display lights up, internal light comes on, but neither the fridge or freezer cooled at all. Was still at room temperature 12 hours later, no sound of compressor running, just a very faint hum if you put your ear to it.
Called Bosch. Called the supplier. They agree to replace it, Saturday morning a replacement turns up ... and does exactly the same thing. It has been on since 4pm Saturday and now, 16 hours later, completely warm.
Will call Bosch again on Monday, but wondering if anyone has any ideas. It seems really unlikely that we'd get TWO dead-on-arrival units, but I can't see what we could have missed. The controls are really simple, there's no other switch anywhere that I can see, and the instructions don't mention anything. Fridge location isn't particularly warm (21C) and it's spaced away from back wall so ventillation is fine. Only thing I can possibly think of is that the installers had to take the doors off to get it in the house, then put them back on, but that seems to be ok (if you open either door and wait a minute, the 'door open' alarm sounds). If they'd botched it then then control panel on the left door wouldn't be getting power.
Baffled - any thoughts on what I could be missing? Do they have to be left a long time before they start working? Neither Bosch customer services or the instructions suggested that they do.
(model is KAN93VIFPG if it matters)

Manual @ https://media3.bosch-home.com/Documents/8001133789_A.pdf seems to imply there is a "holiday" mode - see page 15- that will generate this effect.

Holiday mode only affects the fridge side, not the freezer, so not that - definitely not turned on though.

Odd one this. Have you ensured the controls are unlocked, padlock open on control panel? Also can you turn super freeze on?The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0

Yes, can lock and unlock controls with a press-and-hold, and can set desired temperature for both fridge and freezer (including enabling super freeze or super cool modes). However, nothing happens when I do.We have an IR thermometer which is reasonably accurate, and after 12 hours there's no meaningful difference between the freezer and room temperature.0

Agree getting 2 with same problem is unlikely, but not impossible.
Have you tried the old favourite of turning power off at socket waiting a few minutes and turning back on?

Have you tried the old favourite of turning power off at socket waiting a few minutes and turning back on?Yeah, looks like a few minutes powered off to trigger some kind of reset (it goes through some kind of power-on cycle where the display shows '88' for temperature, doesn't do that with a quick off-on), but so far no sign that it's then cooling down.Wondering if there's some kind of tilt sensor in it that enforces a long wait before powering up, it had to come into the house on its side rather than vertical and I know leaving them a while to settle down is recommended before the compressor is used, but would have thought customer services would have told me. The delivery folks just said four hours. Will give them a call again tomorrow to see what they suggest.

You have set freezer at -18c and fridge at +4c
What temperature readings on display are you getting from fridge and freezer?
Come back later check for replies, as some more knowledgeable posters will appear.

Is it all properly levelled and has enough space around the rear?
The installation manual suggests leaving it for a n hour before staring up so the 4 hours your delivery guys suggested should be more than enough.
Have you tried either the "Super Freezing" or "Super Cooling" modes?0 -
I had a freezer that got turned off, (we were on holiday) then got turned back on, everything refroze, but on our return, opened the door and everything obviously gone off, so stripped out, deep cleaned, turned back on, engine humming, not freezing, after 3 days rang company and asked for a technician to call, about a week to wait, the day before he due noticed freezer noise different, opened door to freezing air.Do I need it or just want it.0
