I booked a holiday on my credit card to the republic of Ireland for a week on the 24th of August 2020 with my family and we have been informed that I must isolate for 7days in Ireland which we will be staying in the house for the whole week  and two weeks when I return, as I only work part-time and  I can not afford to isolate can I get a refund

Quarantine is due to be reviewed on Monday and may well change before your holiday is due. I'm pretty sure there is an exemption for Ireland anyway, which means you wouldn't need to isolate for 14 days.

I don't know anything about Irish 7 days.

I'd say you are dependent on goodwill from whoever you booked with. Did you book as a package or travel and accommodation separately?

It is not the holiday provider issue that you need to self isolate so unless they are willing to then no. You could try travel insurance but as it is your choice not sure how well that would work.
  • A lot can happen between now and 24th August Tommy.  You will just have to wait and see.   If things continue on the line they are doing, there will be no quarantine.   If you cancel now you will lose whatever the t's and c's you agreed to dictate.
  • Thank's to all that replied to my query, I will wait for the government's advice on traveling to southern Ireland.

Even since the UK established quarantine on arrival into the UK, Ireland has been excluded as it forms part of the Common Travel Area (CTA).  It would appear Ireland does still require quarantine for 14 days on arrivals from the UK.

As another poster says though, that is likely to change by August.
