Applying for first credit card - address not recognised on credit score

I'm looking to apply for my first credit card for building my credit score. I did a credit check today which recognised my last 3 addresses (parent's and 2 previous addresses (short term rents)), but not my current one.
My bank accounts have always been addressed to my parent's house, but I guess my previous addresses were recognised from rent payments etc and the electoral roll. I am wondering why my current address is not recognised. I voted here for the election in December (but when I look myself up on the electoral roll the preview I get shows my parent's address.)
I will moving in with my partner long term soon and at that point everything will be changed to that address, but until then as I have moved around the country I have found it easier to keep things registered at my parent's address.
I am wondering if I should change the address for my bank account before I apply for the credit card. However, I am worried this will lower my credit score and I will therefore not be eligible for a card.

You should ensure that your data is accurate.
Lenders do not use your credit score is assessing you for credit, but on the strength and accuracy of the data.0 -
Where are you registered to on the electoral roll?If at your parents address then I would apply there.0

This is an issue. I definitely registered to vote at my new address and voted in the election, but when I search the electoral roll my name comes up at my parents address. I think I must have written on the registration form that I was registered at another address aswell (my parent's) and they have treated that as the main address.maxximus75 said:Where are you registered to on the electoral roll?If at your parents address then I would apply there.

Change your address with everybody to where you are living now. Wait 4-6 weeks until this has filtered through to the CRA's.
If you have a bank account check with them if you are eligible for a card first - see how the land lies there - if not wait and apply for one of the credit building credit cards.0 -
Thanks for the advice. I think I'll definitely change everything over then. Are you saying the check with my current bank r.e. a card now, or after the 4-6 weeks?jonesMUFCforever said:Change your address with everybody to where you are living now. It can take months for an electoral roll change to make it through to the CRAs. Many councils, even without the added delays for Covid, only report in batches and CRAs then update once a month once they get the info.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

Check you are not registered on the Electoral Roll at your old address. You may be registered on both at the same time if you haven't had yourself removed from your old one.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0
