Can I do my own repairs that landlord is responsible for?

I'm with a housing association - clarion group in UK.  There are deep holes in the flat and cracks in various places.  The landlord is responsible for this but is it acceptable for me to get my own filler and diy without telling them? id rather diy as they will take time plus I can use a filler that wont aggravate my sensitivities.

Thanks.

if you're sure you can do them properly, and don't make them any worse,  yeah.

Unless the holes or cracks are large most would consider this part of decorating which you are responsible for. If you fill them properly the landlord won't know they were there. If you're still worried email pictures to them showing the size and asking if you can fill them or if they need to investigate further.

Deep holes and cracks where exactly? in the walls? In the floors? In the ceiling? Are they just wear and tear from DIY attempts by a previous resident/cosmetic cracks and holes or are they subsidence cracks and holes?
In theory, you should be asking permission to repair really. Do you have a reason to belive they will stop you if you ask? In practice, if you're a competent DIYer then......
