from Intu on twitter yesterday afternoon
" just as reassurance, the intu Gift Card is safeguarded and guaranteed by the Financial Conduct Authority, with all customer funds held in a ring-fenced client account. That means that regardless of what happens, your money is protected."

Refunds must be in the original payment form - also remember Virgin will have a deal with Intu where they didn’t get paid the full amount; perhaps a 5-10% discount in return for more sales by accepting the card.

Virgin would be physically losing money by giving you a cash refund.
