Yes I understand you only get one choice and if you say no for some reason then you will be on the streets?

Obviously everyone being evicted once the ban on evictions is lifted will have very poor credit rating and no savings as I doubt they will get their deposit back!

Please apply for universal credit.  There are some circumstances where a council may decide although rent wasn't paid, it wasnt the tenants fault because they did not have sufficient income.  But this is not a certainty so do not rely on it.  They may say you would have been granted universal credit and so should have applied for it (and housing benefit).  It depends on the assessor.  Apply for a discretionary housing payment to see if you can get any help with the arrears as well.  Apply for all and any jobs as well.

Temporary housing can be refused if you are decided as intentionally homeless but if you have children, it will be funded (hotel or B&B) for 30 days, or longer even so.  But I am afraid the children can also be placed in the care of the council if you can't look after them. They won't be allowed to go on the streets.  Using them as hostages in demands for assistance could backfire on you.

You're not the only one poppy.  This time he's throwing voluntary bankruptcy into the mix as well  ;)

So you are getting government help.

Have you claimed Council Tax Reduction too?

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

If you are receiving housing help from Universal Credit and not using it to pay your rent then the landlord can apply to have the housing element paid direct to them
