IHG Hotel Rewards

Hi,
disenchanted with a company that promotes buying Reward Points that are timed out, but this condition only found on their web page not on their promotional invitation. I have copied one my many emails which although acknowledge them and are very polite, are in denial of admitting mis selling. Be warned, they are not as respectable a company as they make out!

Priority Club No. 574064935.

I spoke to your supervisor Christopher yesterday (2nd. March) regarding my non existent IHG  points which I had presumed to use on a Holiday Inn Express booking in Edinburgh.

My accumulated points plus 10,000 pts. purchased 19/03/2018 are apparently now null and void according to Christopher due to a new ruling that unless there is point activity over a 12 month period my points balance lapses altogether.

There was nothing in the confirmation email to advise this condition of purchase.

I am over 70, and as a retired person do not travel as often as I used to unlike Business people and the like. Your records will show that my wife and I were fairly frequent users of IHG affiliated hotels when younger.

My contention is that I have been penalised in my ignorance. You never sent an alert that my points were in jeopardy and as I said the confirmation email did not refer to the issue.

I am asking you to make a considered gesture and allow the points to be reinstated as an exceptional circumstance.

Hopefully it will not be necessary for me to make recourse to a statutory body if you fail to bring about a positive outcome.

Regards,

N. John Steer
