Repairing a plastic water pipe

the pipe that feeds our toilet from the cistern has a leak, on the underside of the horizontal part of it (the whole pipe runs down and then across into the loo in an ‘L’ shape). What’s best to make a repair to the plastic pipe? Just to get us out of trouble until the bathroom is replaced this autumn

Assuming the pipe is not punctured, the leak is either from the connection to the cistern or to the pan. You my be able to just tighten the plastic nut a little. If that does not work try using something like Fernox LS-X which is essentially a silicone sealant. You need to make sure your pipe connections are pretty clean though. If leak is from the pipe itself, cut an old sock and use it as bandage laced with the LS-X.

Smear LS-X around the leaking bit of pipe and then wrap with some PTFE tape. Smear some more LS-X over the PTFE tape and the wrap with some more PTFE tape. You can keep repeating the LS-X/PTFE tape wrap until the leak stops.0
