Year travel insurance policy medical cover for Covid

Hi, we have a year policy with insure and go that runs until November. I understand the cancellation part for new bookings not being covered for Covid but I feel it's unfair to not cover medical costs in case you get Covid when abroad. We'd love to travel later in the year, all being well, but i'd then have to buy new insurance. I feel no one is campaigning for exisiting policies to cover the medical aspect. We had a trip planned for June and fingers crossed, the 17 different bookings I had have been cancelled or refunds will hopefully come through eventually. So we have claimed zero on our policy. Insure and Go were a nightmare to get hold of but eventually I discovered we can't even claim admin fees for some refunds we're getting. We have silver cover, zero excess and £5000 each. They haven't had to pay a penny! All the info I've read or heard on tv programmes doesn't seem to mention about covid medical costs. Are people travelling without worry of contracting? I realise in Europe we would just have to pay what the locals pay if sick but what would intensive care cost should you need it? To help the travel industry recover I feel someone should be helping on the medical side, even if we can't claim cancellation for covid any more.

I could be wrong but my understanding was that the medical expense side of it was still covered it was just for cancellations where the insurance company wouldn’t cover it.0

Majority will cover the medical expense (granted not all), it is the disruption that most are not.0

Hi, no i checked about a month ago with insure and go and they said if you got sick with covid it wasn't covered. Will not be using this company again after many years with them.0

I responded to a similar post a couple of weeks ago having checked (at random) the cover provided by Aviva in relation to Covid 19. In general, medical cover was included (you would have to read the small print for details). I'm covered with AXA and it's a similar situation.0
