O/S Daily Saturday 27 June 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Overcast, grey and raining steadily here this morning.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here, I'll be going for a shower shortly then will eat my porridge whilst on here in a while, DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken steaks, jacket potato, beans/cheese, salad, I had fishcakes and veg. Tonight will be either omelettes or quiche with scotch eggs, pork pie, ham, salad, skinny fries or wedges.
I got done the jobs I wanted to, so then had a chilled day yesterday, the food shopping was still too expensive so I'm now going to be be more actively menu planning, and will spend some time this morning planning and prepping the menu for the coming week. I'm hoping that better planning and prepping will help reduce the costs although I know that everything seems to be getting more expensive.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, it's a grey start this morning, but we've had no storms as yet, just a shower. The forecast is not good though..Gers, sorry to hear you've been in hospital, hope you are now recovering. I wondered where you were, with not seeing any postings. We went to the park for our picnic yesterday, whew it was hot! the young ones enjoyed it, well, so did we, and we all came home looking distinctly red faced and sweaty. There were lots of little groups around, but it's a big park, so we weren't close to anyone.Today, I don't know what's happening, nothing probably. I need some bread, that's all I think., but there are the usual jobs to do.We've just had a parcel delivered, I ordered some wool blend fabric to make a loose jacket for the autumn, or even winter if it's not too cold, it was less than half price, so I've got a bargain. At the moment the thought of a wool jacket makes me hot !!Hope everyone has a good Saturday, take care folks15

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Overnight rain for us and it will be around on and off all weekend. But at least it's cooled things down a bit and watered the garden too so not complaining. We had a heavy downpour out of the blue yesterday, just as 2 wood pigeons were on the bird table. One carried on eating and the other got on the roof and stood with his wings up. He looked to be really enjoying the cold shower! The heat must have got to him too!
So today will be confinement to barracks pottering. Probably being busy doing nothing! There's lots I could find to do if I could be arrised!
I got a snippet of good news yesterday from the pharmacist! He has managed to source some of the elusive tablets and should have them by Monday or Tuesday. They may not help but anything is worth a try.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. I hope GERS managed to catch up on some much needed sleep last night and will soon be back on form. Thinking of RR with her decisions. Take care all and stay safe xx

Morning everyone
Just finished a 12 hour night shift so sat in bed reading before I sleep. Another 2 nights to go then on days off.
it was my dd 2 days ago and as she hadn’t been well, I organised a delivery of afternoon tea. Her dh was in on the secret and she loved it. On the photos she sent it looked delicious.
no o/s today just sleep till 4 then hit the road around 5.30 to get there for 6.30 ready to start at 7.Ds2 is still working and seems more settled. He was really lucky to get a job during the pandemic. It has done his confidence so Much good.
redruby - thinking of you.
gers - hope you managed some sleep.
hugs to anyone that wants/needs one. Take care.13 -
Morning folks and thanks for starting us off nmlc. Hope the menu planning goes well. Did you get your new kettle?Picnic in the park is such a lovely thing to do. Glad you enjoyed it Scarlet. I am impressed with your sewing skills!TA so pleased for you that the pharmacist has sourced the tablets. I hope they work well for you.
Nice and cool feel to the air this morning. We had thunder yesterday and some heavy rain. The hot weather reminds me of the long hot summers when we lived in Suffolk.Bit of tidying and cleaning this morning then a pottering afternoon. Might go for a longer dog walk. Ours gets 3 park walks a day which take about half an hour each. We have a variety of lovely trees in the park and I really appreciate them.Easy tea tonight of the butcher’s burgers, will have with tiny potatoes and salad.Gers I hope you have a speedy recovery. It has been lovely to read the messages for you from folks new to thread. Maybe people would like to join us? Hope soTake care all x12 -
Morning all.
I believe we must have had a smattering of rain in the night as there were drops on the back windows. The ground is still dry though, and though it was grey and dismal when I woke it is brightening up now.
Hope you had a good night Gers and feel a bit better this morning.
I'm hoping that the cooler weather leaves us all feeling a bit more 'with it'.
Now that the fence painting is finished I can relax, knowing that no one should be calling today. So it's down to the shop to get the paper and a happy day spent with all the puzzles. I love the giant cryptic crossword and a good tough sudoku to tussle with. The brain can be active even if the body languishes on the sofa.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

LOVE and HUGS to RedRuby xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.12 -
Morning All
Hoping Gers has had a sleep filled night.
Glad you'll be getting your tablets TA, how's Sparkle getting on?
We had a lovely end of term on-line meeting yesterday with a little quiz that was very amusing, such a good note to end the very strange term on. I have a little work to do at home on Monday but that will be it and I don't have to remember to check in every morning.
The rain eased yesterday and it was really warm so I pottered about in the garden for a while, the strawberry runners have been potted and I had a general tidy up, need to go and do the same at the allotment this morning.
The bedding is in the WM but drying outside doesn't look promising so that can go on the rack. Shopping was done yesterday but will need to go and get some flowers for friends who have invited me to dinner tomorrow, really looking forward to that.
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX14 -
CAMELOT Sparkle's chin is looking a bit better after week 1 of the a/b's and steroids. Still a little improvement needed yet. Unfortunately once she finishes the medication and her chin looks clear of infection it won't be long before it erupts again and we will be back to square one again. And according to the vet there is no permanent cure for the allergy sadly. Poor little puss. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12

Asda delivery this morning and again no subs apart from a small tub of natural yogurt subbed for a massive bucket load. Same price charged so I'll take that.
Befriending call this morning then no real plans. Food tonight I'm looking forward to. I'm doing sea bass with a shrimp and lemon sauce.
Have a good day all x

Yay we have had rain and more is due this afternoon, you can almost hear the grass drinking it in! Our resident badger will be pleased also as he might be able to get a few worms tonight instead of the dog food that we put out for him!
A day of joining in the “Sloth Club” awaits 🙃 will put my feet up, sit on the settee and find a couple of films to watch on Netflix.
No washing to do and DH did all of the ironing on Thursday, so a quick tidy and that will be it for the day.
If the weather does brighten up later we will throw something on the BBQ 🍗
Gers - sorry to hear of your hospital stay, I hope that your recovery is swift. X
