Eighth Anniversary Combo Breaker
I am moving from Northern Ireland to a new build bungalow in Lincoln and would like to know how i go about getting a gas and electricity supplier so some help needed please as i have looked a switching sights and with so many supplier i am confused i dont want to sign up for a supply and then find out that i could have got it cheaper with another so again some help please

    You need to make an educated guess - bungalows are more expensive to run than houses. Perhaps 12,000 kwh for gas, 4,000 kwh for elec.  Keep an eye on what you use (in kwh) and it will sort itself out after a year.
    When you move in ring whoever the builder signed up for, give them readings, take a photo and then use a comparison site to select your supplier.

    When you first move in you will need to set up an account with the current energy supplier(s) before you can think about switching. That supllier should (don't think it's subject to GDPR) be able to supply you with the current EAC (elec - Estaimated Annual Consumptio) and AQ (gas - annual quantity) which you could use when looking on a switching site but please bear in mind that is based on what the previous occupant used.

    The developer will have entered into a contract for energy supply to the property. Ask them which energy company that is, and get contact details. On the day you arrive read the energy meters, best to photo them for your records. Then contact the energy company which supplies the property, and open an account with them. Give them the opening meter readings. Ask them for the best available tariff without early termination charges. Then you are off to a good start and can relax and settle in. Take meter readings monthly and inform the supplier by phone or online or whatever method suits you. When it comes to choosing a different supplier, you will have to guesstimate the annual energy usage in order to use comparison sites.

    And it may well be an expensive one that rewards the developer very nicely, at your expense.
