Is there a positive side to life during this pandemic?

I have been able to get jobs done that I never had time to do. I have loved the countryside walk, the slowere pace. etc.. I feel thankful that we werent in the middle of winter and queuing in snow outside stores for our weekly shop!

I know what you mean Boazu - i am avoiding seeing a friend who is more of a friend of a friend IYSWIM and now have an excuse.. Apparently though, my card is marked as she said to my friend "tell her if she doesn't come next time, we'll know she doesn't like us". Thing is, i don't dislike her, and certainly wish her no harm, i just don't need her negative energy in my life.
I agree, Sheila - the weather has made a massive difference. We might all have struggled if we'd been holed up in the house the whole time.I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
I think the weather has helped if you're lucky enough to be able to go out safely but even if it had been wet and unpleasant the whole time it would still have been a valuable exercise in searching my life for the necessary as opposed to the clutter and the time in limbo has provided the space to make life changing decisions and implement them, life today is simpler, less tense and much less complicated.8

I agree that the time spent alone has enabled most of us to re-assess what is important in our lives. Personally I have rediscovered how much I enjoy my own company accompanied by my books, my music and my hobbies, but conversely, how much I value my many friends. Hours spent on the phone catching up, reminiscing, giggling and comparing coping strategies. Lots of emails keeping us all entertained and in touch. Last, but by no means least, all my virtual friends gossiping online. Thank you all, my life has been made wonderful by having you in it.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Queuing at the bakery a couple of weeks ago and got chatting to the lady in front of me. She remarked that if it was raining, we wouldn't be there, would we? I suggested that we probably would, just with umbrellas up
I have to decide whether to queue for ages at the butcher's tomorrow, or wait until they're open again, next Wednesday. It was just too hot to go there today. I did suggest it but OH rebelled.
Sorry, that's not exactly a positive thing, is it!
Edit: Actually, queuing can be a positive, as I've enjoyed chatting to people I haven't met before! I do miss being able to just go in and out of a shop quickly though, but I'm sure we all do.8 -
I normally travel a lot for work, and am out of the country for at least part of each week. I've loved being at home and pottering in the house and garden, cooking proper meals (even if it was a bit of a challenge for the first few weeks when veg boxes were in demand and I was isolating with symptoms!) and generally NOT being in airports, on planes, and in hotels. I no longer feel slightly sick and headachy most of the time. I'm not dehydrated, my skin is in good condition, I have a bit of a tan from getting fresh air in the garden, and all my favourite yoga and pilates classes (that I rarely get to) have moved online (I'm currently doing about 12 a week!). I've always been able to work from home, but am getting more done because I'm not having the unproductive travel time - although a lot of that was in my own time too. Like others, I've been reassessing my priorities, and retaining my airline and hotel status won't be at the top of the list...11

Oh greenbee, that's good news, I'm so glad you're feeling better, not just having recovered from from Covid but from not travelling (that's a bit garbled, sorry, but you'll know what I mean.)
Perhaps you could "move sideways" in your career so you don't have to travel all the time?

One of the positive sides is how quiet it is still with little traffic on the roads, there's scarcely any aircraft activity and we can only hear the birds.5

We're near the town centre here. It was blissfully quiet, but now back to normal noise levels unfortunately!2

I got few good things done. painted garden furniture, which under normal circumstance would of been left to go rotten, then after a few years throw it away and buy new. washed and valeted two cars inside and out. walks down by the reservoir, all sorts of stuff really which normally we just wouldnt have time to do.3
