You have overcome so much in such a short amount of time and I hope that you will not be too down. Tomorrow is another day and a better one I hope.

    Hey both,
Thanks, I am suitably nudged....  :)
Changed interweb providers and there was a gap between one closing and this one opening. So I am back, and hopefully back on track...
Managed to find some old jewellery, I am talking about decades here that I've had it, and don't wear it, and also managed to find a shop that was open I could sell it to. Christ, nearly cried in the shop, then, nearly cried again in the bank queue, there was such a lovely lady who helped me put the cash deposit in the ATM (never done that before, seem to be saying that a lot lately), she wasn't a random person, but, specifically out there as a bank staff member, trying to minimise people needing to go in the bank itself. And nearly bluddy cried again because I bought food today...

Managed to keep it together until I got home, and had a quiet blubber... I kept the little jewellery box, it's only cardboard, so I don't know why I kept it because it's empty now.... I have to think positive that at least I had something to sell, and paid off the overdraft, I got a text from my bank saying it was 18.9%, and then another one yesterday saying on 31st July it would be at 39.9% which scared the living daylights out of me.

Well, it's done now and feeling pretty drained, relieved, upset, sad, and tired... I know I will get through this. If I am ever tempted to blindly spend again, I will think of this day, that terrible feeling of walking in the shop and selling treasured memories knowing I won't see them again. That awful feeling of guilt and failure standing in the bank queue, that sad relief I am not overdrawn, and I can buy food, relief. And I know there are others out there that can't even do that, have nothing more to sell. I left myself a small amount, £30, that's got to last me until next week, and I am determined I am not going to spend it, going to save it instead.

Just realised I should have opened a saving account there and then for it. My blummin' head is not with it.

I'm glad you managed to find some things to sell, especially as you've not used them and had them long enough to know they are surplus. Needs must occasionally and now you have to keep your focus, memories can never be sold as they are in your head and it will get easier, given time.

Do you have online banking with your bank? As you can open an account that way, or apply for a savings account / current account with someone else. Having a second current account is good as a back up and easy way of getting to your money in an emergency.

I think it is fantastic that you used your initiative to raise some cash it isn't failure you have survived a tough spell and things are turning around for you. I have realised much of my 'stuff' was clutter and the cash and space has really helped me. .

    Hey Moving
Thanks, you are right, just feeling way too sorry for myself. I am over it now, it was my fault I got myself in a mess in the first place. Think I just needed to let off steam and rant at myself. It's just stuff, it isn't the person who bought it, I guess it just stirred up the past too much...

I think that is such a sensible idea, there is an option for on-line banking, should try and focus on that. I always preferred the human contact face-to-face over the counter, and the nice staff knowing who I was. Maybe its a thing of the past now.

I really like the idea of another account. IF I had only done that, I might have had some savings to get me out of my mistake in the first place. OR, if I had another account I would have another option...

Sometimes I feel like an complete idiot, or, as my old gran used to say 'I've only got me head to put me 'at on!'

Hey, thanks to you too, Saving.

Yes, desperate times, desperate measures. I think it pushed me to do something before it got any worse. 39.9% overdraft fee just gave me the cold chills. How can banks do that? It's a huge amount.

I agree, I have been going from room to room, hauling out stuff that isn't used. I don't really wear jewellery, it's not my thing, so they were just sitting in a little tiny cardboard box. I am now eyeing up some ornaments/collectables, getting fed up of dusting these and I have had my enjoyment from them. Not much point staring at inanimate objects if you are worrying that you don't have any savings to fall back on, and you are just one payment away from overdraft/delayed payment/something breaking and you can't afford to repair/replace it....  B)

Give yourself until Monday, then pull your big girl socks up and move on. You can't change your past, you can influence your future.

With online banking there's nothing stopping you from using branches.
All I use mine for (apps, with occasional online viewing) is moving money from one account to another, checking balances and seeing what other savings accounts are popping up in case there's something better.
Cheques I pay in at the branch.

An easy access account can pay 0.25% interest, a regular saver 1.5% (you have to open a new one each year) and only need £1 to open them. You've seen with my diaries I've moved 1p into an account before and it does build up after time.

When you have finished beating yourself with a wet fish, have a look online to see what your bank offers or if there's another local bank see what they have.

You can do this and have a bunch of virtual flowers to enjoy the weekend with 💐

Ha! You made me laugh out loud and wake the dog up!
Thank you... Hey, wet fish? I am vegan, it has to be a wet dog towel, at the very least,  as the most horrible thing I can think of.... :D
