  • You could put it in an investment fund. You could put it in a savings account for a rainy day. You could buy some garden furniture for a sunny day.
Do you have any recommendations for garden furniture?

But... if I hang onto it, doesn’t that mean that realistically the value is going to decrease? I may have to wait a long time for it to reach the same value again.
Gold will more likely go up over the next few years quite substantially imho. It's one of the few stores of value against debased fiat currencies due to massive QE.

That's as may be, but gold is a very bad choice for garden furniture. Please get back to my topic hijack ;)

£150 would buy a lot of pallets.
  • I find gold a bit of an odd one, we hold a small amount gold mostly in Sovereigns and then I have some jewellery that I rarely wear. One necklace 18kt gold with ruby and diamonds my Husband bought me many years ago for £400, now to get similar from new I'd be looking at £3k but I wouldn't expect to realise this price for it as someone would only pay scrap value, about 3 years ago I could have got circa £700 not that I'm planning on selling.
    Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

    Make £2024 in 2024...

I would pick something wooden or cast iron. Plastic furniture wouldn't work in my garden as I live in a wind tunnel.
Save £12k in 2025 #33 £2531.77/£5000 (If this carries on I might have to up my target!)

What about some of the heavier-looking rattan furniture?
