To good to be true solar claims?

Hi Everyone,
I would welcome some advice on the benefits of investing in a ground bourne 100 panel system. I was thinking of buying direct from a manufacturer then paying a specialist to fit it.
For very efficient panels bought bulk for £500 each could I expect £80 per panel per year I am in Essex.
I would be interested in suppliers installers and if the maths stack up and maybe which tariff is best and possibly if any grant or interest free loans are available.
Thank you in advance for any advice.0 -

Thank you in advance for any advice. If you want to discuss the merits of setting up your very own solar farm, you would be better posting in the Green and Ethical section of this forum as that is where the enthusiasts(and some experts) contribute. However it is a far from straight forward enterprise. A 100 panels could generate in excess of 25Kw which is serious power. You would need to liaise with the DNO (Distribution Network Operator) to get permission.0 -

Otherwise very very roughly I would suggest each kw of panels will generate about 1000kwh a year of electricity worth perhaps £120 at retail prices. But only if you use all the electricity yourself, mainly at noon during the summer. Otherwise you might get 5p a kw for exporting it. You could of course get a battery to increase your consumption but the cost of the battery will largely eat up all the financial benefits...
So solar really only makes financial sense if you consume all the electricity yourself (again mainly midday in summer) or you have very expensive electricity for some reason. Some people enjoy having it in its own right even without a financial benefit though. And you never know future electricity prices might soar and then you would look smart.
