Hi any advice on our situation would be grateful
we have a flight booked for middle of July Which is currently still going to lanzarote we have decided to move this date to next year due to covid.
our flights cost £1800 Which was paid in full last year the new flights For 2021 are £1200 but Ryanair are saying we lose the £600 difference in cost and want a further £625 to move the flight In admin costs.
The word forbearance is being used a lot at present but it seems we are looking after Ryanair and Ryanair are looking after themselves

It's always cost to move flights

You are moving the flight , not them and so you have to pay their "normal" charges.

If that's what the terms and conditions say , which you agreed to when you booked , then it's perfectly legal

  • Our hotel in Italy has cancelled our reservation in September due to Covid. I have tried to change our flights and go to Spain instead (we have a house there). Ryanair wanted to charge more than the cost of the flights to do this. So I have lost £380. This in addition to losing cost of flights in March as they haven’t refunded when flights were cancelled, and when a computer glitch changed my partner’s last name to mine and I had to buy him another ticket. How do they get away with it?

It's not Ryanair's fault that your hotel cancelled you. The flights are available, but you are choosing not to use them. You chose to buy non-refundable tickets, which is why they are cheap. What does your holiday insurance offer?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Surely these aren’t normal times we would gladly go if we were allowed to have a normal holiday which is what we booked.
no masks bars and restaurants open allowed to use the pool ect just hope they cancel the flight we won’t lose as much money then.
BA are being much more reasonable in there policy no charge to move flights
  • Yes I know my tickets are not refundable but unfortunately the cost of transferring flights is often more than buying new tickets. My tickets cost £380  for September, the extra payment to transfer the flights to May next year is £390. I don’t mind paying a transfer fee, but that is ridiculous. New tickets in May only cost £270. On the basis that I am still awaiting a refund for a (Ryanair) cancelled flight in March and I have been charged twice for my partner’s ticket when Ryanair’s computer system failed and they refused to refund,  we will not be using  Ryanair again

"these are not normal times " doesn't matter

The legality of the terms and conditions does , and they are open and honest about all their fees at booking.

Just because you don't like those terms and conditions now doesn't change things .
