Expedia Package - Jet 2 cancelled

Hi all,
Apologies as I know there have been similar threads posted but my situation seems slightly different due to my atol certificate so any help is appreciated.
In January I booked (and paid for on my credit card) what I thought was a package holiday to Portugal through Expedia. Yesterday I received an email from Jet 2 saying my outbound flight was cancelled.
Expedia have advised I need to speak to Jet 2 regarding a refund for my flight but obviously I know have a return flight and hotel that I will not be able to use. Expedia have said they will not refund for the cost of the hotel as I booked a non cancellable room.
I have checked my credit card statement from the time and there are two transactions showing, one to Expedia (presumably for the hotel) and one to Jet 2. This is despite the fact that I booked the holiday for a total amount and made only one payment.
After searchingly other threads I have checked my atol certificate and it is for “flight plus sale” - a quick google suggests that this is for trips booked prior to July 2018 so I’m slightly concerned regarding this.
Does any have any advice on how to proceed? I’m seen some suggesting a charge back or section 75 claim. Do these options sound valid and have a chance of succeeding?
Many thanks in advance!

Bumping as I have a similar issue.0

I have a similar issue - we booked with Expedia for a 2 week holiday including flights (EasyJet), hotel & car to Gran Canaria - however they did fly us out on 14 March (when Spain was already on lockdown!!) and EasyJet cancelled our return flight the next day. We did manage to secure flights back organised by EasyJet - Expedia were uncontactable after they had already cancelled our car as the flight out was delayed!! The hotel informed us they were due to close the week after we were flown home but before our holiday should have completed. Expedia have washed all hands of our request for refunds citing it was booked on a budget airline so contact them and it was a non refundable hotel room although they have offered to email the hotel and car company on our behalf - but obviously we have heard nothing. We believe as we bought the holiday as a package (ATOL certificate provided) Expedia should be liable for the refund - can anyone confirm whether this is legally the case?
Many thanks.0 -
Yes, Expedia are directly responsible to you for the package in its entirety, via their obligations under the Package Travel Regulations 2018.0
