Boiler coming on

We have a 9 year old valiant ecoTech plus 831 combi boiler. For sometime now it has been coming on a random times. We have a NEST thermostat which we thought was the culprit but it has been checked and it working correctly. Any ideas?

Vaillant boilers do fire up occasionally if they aren't used for heating to stop the diverter valve sticking.1

this is quite regularly, possibly even day. We have had to switch off all the radiators. During winter it was coming on in the middle of the night.0

I don't know if this applies when you have a Nest thermostat - I suspect not, but just in case - but have any of your neighbours had problems when your heating was set to come on? When we had our boiler installed several years ago (non-Nest controlled), it kept coming heating the radiators and staying on when all of the controls said it should be off. It turned out that the wireless thermostat was set to the same channel as our next-door neighbour.0
