Bank forcing vulnerable person to break shielding

  • No more than stated, why would he defraud his own account? He normally doesn't send his brother money so I'm presuming because he did so twice close together they thought it odd.
  • @caz3121 Yes they did but they cancelled them when the other brother found work online because they didn't feel it appropriate to take free food when they could afford to buy it

I went back to check the original post & sure enough it is about HSBC.  They are a little hyper about this as they have been fined some huge amounts.  I suggest that as soon as this is sorted that he opens an account with another bank.  Sorry they are forcing your sons to take risks they would rather not.
  • @SidneySmutt my question is does the bank have to provide alternative means to verify your identity. I am presuming they must have something in place for people who are housebound for other reasons. Can they force him to go in and withhold his money if he does not. And that comment was not directed at you btw

I and many others on this forum have been going to work with others living at home that are high risk. I can assure you where I work and most of the others on this forum that work there is far more chance of any of us getting it then your son has from going to the bank.
  • @badmemory thank you, yes they intend to close the account immediately. And thank you for understanding

    .
As to the brother identifying themselves I cannot think of a way to avoid going in person as they will not just want to see the identification document(s) they will also want to see the person presenting it too.
Just realised also that you initially said the account is blocked but in your last post you said they intend to close the account. Which one is it?

I think the account is blocked but once the relevant son can do it, an alternative account will be opened.
