But, like everyone said, you need to look at the actual meter readings and the unit costs and standing charges.1 -
Oh and 'turning the lights off' will have a negligible effect on the bills if they've got modern bulbs. If I turned on all the lights in my house it would use about 150W which would cost about £150 if left on 24 hours a day for a year.
The expensive to run items are showers, heaters, ovens, dryers etc. - basically anything which generates heat.0 -
Might be a good idea to switch to Variable Direct Debit, which is offered by Shell Energy. Providing they read their meter(s) monthly, at least it would get rid of all the confusion caused by people thinking that their Fixed Direct Debit is an All You Can Eat tariff.Heating bills in a bungalow will always be high because of the extra roof area. Instead of warming the bedrooms, the heat lost from the ground floor just goes through the roof.0

Fixed rate means the unit rate is fixed not the monthly direct debit.0
