I was wondering if anyone could help. My tax return was submitted late after the extension, as I was waiting for an access code for my new accountant. I’ve been declined the grant due to it being late. I’ve asked them to review it, as I’ve always paid my tax and I’ve had a tax rebate for 18/19. But HMRC are still saying that I’m not eligible. Has anyone experienced this? Or does anyone know how I could contest their decision.

You are not the only person. HMRC will not change the decision that was made and i'm afraid you won't qualify.Your tax return must have been submitted by 23rd April at the very latest. The government did actually extend this and yet you still failed to submit it by that date. The only person you have to blame is yourself. Not sure how you can blame your new accountant because it should have been submitted by 31st January originally. Those are the rules and HMRC are only obiding by the rules set by the Government. Same rules will apply to the 2nd SEISS grant.Look at claiming Universal Credit and use a benefits calculator.A claim for UC will end any tax credits you may already be claiming.7
