Hi just wondering does being on furlough affect the minimum wage incease from the 1st of April 2020? My partner was furloughed in March but her employer hasnt increased her minimum wage from the 1st of April. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Furlough is based on pay before 6 April 2020, and minimum wage only applies if you are working.1

As soon as you go back to work you should start getting the new wage, I am sure a few companies will forget that so worth checking your first pay slip.1

Thank you for clearing that up. What about holiday pay as her employer has paid her part furlough this month and 3 and half days holiday which she has accrued since being off ? Would the holiday pay be paid at 80% or 100%??.0

Its complicated is the answer, but most employers have been paying 100%. Did she get any extra pay for that?1

No if anything a pound less she was told she was paid 14 days normal and 3 and half days holiday pay but no extra compared to the previous month.0

get her to ask them how they calculated the holiday pay. The see from there1

Thanks I will do thank you for your help .0

I think that the holiday pay should be paid at the current NMW rate, because the overriding principle is that you should not be worse off on holiday than working, and if she'd been working she would have to receive current NMW.0

That's what we were thinking as it seems it was paid at 80% not 100% she literally had £1 less this month from last and she would have worked 17 days previous month but got paid for 14 days work and 3 and half days holiday. We were under the impression that holidays would be carried over for the next 2 years but , are now presuming that after lockdown she may be made redundant and this is one way to get out of paying her full holiday entitlement?0

The rules are quite complicated. Here is the government guidance:
