Should I join the Easyjet data-breach claim?

    There could of been many possible compromise sources.  

    Have you actually experienced any financial loss through your cloned credit card? Normally credit card firms are very quick to jump on these fraudulent transactions and refund those reported to them whilst invested.

    Please don’t assume it is the EasyJet issue. Hope it is not the sparkle of a claim firm dangling possible Compo in front of your eyes that is driving you forward with thoughts of a claim.

    The number of compromise sources is, unless something exceptional has happened, limited by where a card has been used. In my case that number is very small. 
    What is surprising is that a hacker interested in card details could only collect 2000 over a period of 4 months.

    Have Easyjet been in touch with you about your credit card being used fraudulently?
    Below is an extract from the link you provided up-thread.

    “Our forensic investigation found that, for a very small subset of customers (2,208), credit card details were accessed,” EasyJet said in its announcement. “Action has already been taken to contact all of these customers and they have been offered support.”

    If you haven't been contacted, why are you so convinced that the Easyjet hack remains the prime suspect for your credit card having been compromised?

    But that is potentially what you are doing chasing a payment claim when you suffered no financial loss. 

    If a fraudulent charge was made then let the credit card firm’s fraud team deal with that and any loss (if any) that they incurred.

    This data breach claim is just a speculative compo grab by chancers. Don’t get pulled in. There is no free money to be had.

    You had no loss. Time to move on.

    There are some who see the idea of free money and jump on the bandwagon. It is far from clear that there will be any payout, Easyjet will certainly be fined by the ICO, possibly hundreds of millions but none of that comes back to consumers. If the US attorneys succeed, who do you think pays for it in the long run? The answer is all of us, in higher fares to recover the loss

    Has anyone joined one of these no win no fee claims? Normally I wouldn't go anywhere near anything like this, but thanks to Easyjet I'm £400 down, as they decided to run a flight I had booked during Covid lockdown that I was not legally allowed to take, meaning I had to claim on travel insurance (which I'm lucky I had) and suffer the excess. Customer services were virtually uncontactable and hopeless when I finally did manage to get through.

    They did leak my data (I had the email) and I have recently become aware of various no win no fee actions I can sign up to. Even if I don't receive any money (I wouldn't mind with £400) I would be happy to cost Easyjet some.

    And before anyone asks, no I haven't as far as I'm aware suffered a loss due the data breach, but that is not a requirement, and yes I probably am being petty.

    So do I have anything to lose by joining one of these claims? And if not can anyone recommend one to jump on to?
