Car with big boot advice
I need a car with a bigger boot to carry a wheelchair & 4 passengers.
I don't really need a bigger car as most of my driving is urban, with a couple of trips a year on the M1, and I don't want to spend a fortune, as the car is used as a mobile skip due to my work.
Any advice please?.
Meg.

Do you mean "driver + 4 passengers" - ie 5 occupants - or "four occupants"?
How mobile the wheelchair user is is also going to be a factor - but going a bit taller (sprogbus rather than softroader) may well prove worthwhile, so you can put the wheelchair vertical into the boot. A more vertical tailgate will certainly help with that - you should be able to get a vertical folded chair even into the boot of most small citycars, but might struggle with more conventional hatchbacks.0 -
Ford Mondeo. You'll definitely fit a wheelchair in that. You can buy a MK3 for a few hundred quid and even the MK4 for sub £1000.0

Thanks all.I mean 4 occupants + chair.I currently have a Skoda Fabia. I can fit the wheelchair in, but cannot fit much more in the boot, and one of the back seats has to be tipped forward a bit, making it uncomfortable for the back seat passengers on long journeys.Looked last year at Dascia but the boot was no bigger than the Fabia.Happy to buy from new.Meg0

Volvo V70 D5 phase 2 (2000-2007ish).
Huge boot, versatile, comfortable, economical, reliable, don't rust, poor turning circle
My 2004 one now on 280,000 miles (sold to a mate last year, after I bought a V70R).0 -
If you particularly like Skoda have a look at the Superb estate - a huge 660 litres, or the Octavia estate which has 610 litres.
That's a fair bit more than Mondeo estates & more than the V70 estate's 575 litres.
A VW Passat estate is 650 litres - but it's the same family as Skoda & you pay more for the VW name.
The Skoda Superb is very spacious & highly regarded.

Take the litre value with a pinch of salt. A while back i was comparing boot spaces and oddly some cars
claimed a large litre value when the boot was not as wide/deep or tall as some others. How do you get
more litres into a smaller space?

Something like a scenic or C Max should have ample boot space and won’t be quite as big as conventional estates and perhaps a bit cheaper to run.0
