    Hi
A charity has asked me to look through some cupboards with a view to clearing out old pcs and tech and possibly raising some money on ebay. There are a number of old laptops and I am struggling to value them. They are Dell Inspirion D520 Celeron M with a range of RAM from 500Mb to 2Gb. Windows xp and office (2007 I think), about 160Gb hard drives. I guess they are about 2007 vintage. All in working order, i.e.boot up ok.
There are similar, slightly better speced versions on ebay ranging from £40 to £90. However I do not know how long these have been on and think it may be people seeing if they can sell something overpriced. Various websites that value old laptops won't even give me a price.
Anybody any ideas how much they might be worth or where to sell, other than ebay?
    Thanks

When you are looking at prices on ebay, you can choose the Completed Items or Sold Items option in you search to see what they have gone for.
Incidentally, disk and memory are expressed as MB and GB, ie. bytes with uppercase "B" (a lowercase "b" is a bit, which is 1/8 of a byte).

Not worth anything. Eventually vintage collectors, years down the line would like them but again, wouldn't pay much. As others have said, remove the drives before selling.

Maybe of use to some for spares.

I still have my Lenovo ThinkPad for is about 7 years old now I think. Still going strong with an SSD in. But it is an i7 with 32GB RAM (I run VMs on it)

Those laptops would probably run perfectly well with a Linux distro, provided that nobody had any illusions about blazing speed, and one of the 'lighter' distros was chosen.  Perhaps bundle two or three of the same model together, in the hope that at least one would work satisfactorily, and if not, parts could be cannibalised from another.
