Hotel canx but not flight

I booked Easyjet flights for July and accommodation direct with hotel, the hotel us in Lassi Kefalonia and along with numerous hotels has decided to close his season. My accommodation has been moved to next year but my Easyjet flights are still valid. After ridiculous phonecalls left on hold I emailed Easyjet and they said i can change my flight but only whats on sale now...no voucher or refund. The flights for next July go on sale in August which is past this years travel date. I have annual travel insurance and i paid with Mastercard can anyone point me in the right direction for help ? I really want a refund as one of our party (my son) is in the RAF and all leave is canx due to COVID so we cant book for him anyway.

That's the inherent danger in making your own travel arrangements. Not another providers issue if another cannot deliver.

They will not refund you on the basis that your hotel isn’t open. Easy jet only have to get you to and from the destination which they can do and your credit company will tell you that it’s you choosing not to use the service provided.

This is definitely a pitfall of booking items separately as it weakens any case when something goes wrong.
