Forced to pay premiums during a claim period

Hi
I have a redundancy insurance policy which I am now claiming on. I paid the premiums monthly.
The insurance company is insisting that I continue to pay the premiums during the claim period or they will not pay out on the claim.
Is this acceptable? Obviously I am making the premiums payments at the moment but it feels like I am paying for something that is of no use to me - I can be made redundant while I am out of work..
Thanks in advance.

What do the T&Cs say?1

If you are paying by monthly instalments, the premium is actually an annual premium due at the start of the policy year.On a claim arising the balance of that year's instalments would be deducted from the claim or the remaining instalments for that year would continue to be collected.2

I did check the policy document and I cant find any mention continuing to pay the premiums during a claim.0
