Looking at the advice for Spain it says "essential travel only", is this enough to make a claim on my travel insurance?

I would be majorly suprized if there is an insurance policy that is not 100% void if you travel against Foreign Office Advice.

Air bridges will sorted soon, and FCO advise will change.

When would be the cut off though? I've had to cancel my accommodation to ensure I got 100% refund on that so the flights are useless now.

What does your policy say about cancellation based on FCO advice?
  • When is your holiday? My insurance says it’ll pay out if the FCO is advising no travel 48 hours before we depart. If you were due to travel imminently; you might be okay. If you were due to travel later in July, there is likely to be an air bridge agreement by then and the FCO advice will change.

I don’t think there’s a standard cut off, so you’d have to ask your insurance or read your policy docs, it should be mentioned there.

Terms and conditions are very different depending on the policy We’ve had someone with a 31 day cut off. Mine says 28.
