What happens to the copper line from cabinet to exchange when FTTC initiated

Yes this does result from my other queries where I am getting nowhere.
I have referred TalkTalk to CISAS and awaiting developments.
I am actively pursuing a technical fault with Vodafone.
However, when I wake up at night I still want to understand how it went wrong and if I do I might be able to point the technical people towards a solution which does not seem to getting any nearer even though I have now provided three numbers of people who have never been able to reach me since I transferred.
So my thought is:
I know that the copper cable from house is terminated at the fibre optic cabinet at the end of the road (proven by much improved broadband).
What happened (or should have happened) to the redundant connection between the ordinary cabinet and the exchange? Is there anything the Openreach engineer should have done at the cabinet or the exchange?

In our area the original is still in place as 90% use it .

The phone side still goes the way it did before, there is just a tie cable between the fibre cabinet and old-style street cabinet.
The copper line does not go to the Fibre Cabinet, it's the other way round, the tie cable goes to the PCP carrying the VDSL signal.

Thanks for that.
For clarification. If a person moves from ADSL to Fibre, are their voice calls routed over the copper or the fibre?
Is there a link to the diagram that has the abbreviations explained?
The diagram shows a single PSTN network which I am assuming is BT, do all providers use this or are there other infrastructures?
To all ISP providers that use Openreach for access use the PSTN in the same way?
I understand that Virgin have their own access network, but do they have their own core network for voice?0 -
Voice always goes over the old copper link (top line of diagram) even on a FTTC service.
As for the telephone side (PSTN) I believe that ISPs may have their own equipment in BT exchanges since LLU (local link unbundling) happened.
No idea about Virgin phones.1 -

This implies that voice does indeed use the copper path from the cabinet to the exchange.
This makes my predicament even harder to understand.
I can make calls to anyone and these are charged to my new Vodafone account.
Most people can call me.
I have examples of people with service provided by TalkTalk, Post Office and iD mobile who can never reach me (they receive ring tone, but my phone never rings).
What actions should have occurred (at the exchange?) to make the transfer complete.
Now out of ideas, will leave it to the "experts".0 -

OR ... your phone (or profile with your phone line provider) is blocking those numbers as spam calls. So the fault is (probably) either with your landline provider (Vodafone?) or your handset.1

Good luck getting Vodafone to admit a fault. I switched and I lost access to some websites and forums. One being
Jdownloader, lost access to the forums.
Disabled any blocking and waited a few days for it to kick it and still no access to the forum and others, none of them
adult content or anything dodgy.
Phone tech support who denied everything, not blocking well it all stopped the instant my BB switched and here
is the traceroute etc. Does not go beyond Voda's system. Although he said there is nothing it suddenly started
working during the call, so they did have some blocking features active they do not tell you about.

Checked that. Vodafone do not have blocking, and not a phone feature. But good lateral thought.

TalkTalk have apologised and should be rectifying billing.
Vodafone are hopefully getting somewhere with the routing problem.
Not getting too excited. Is that light at the end of the tunnel or is it a train coming the other way?
Looking back at the other posts. When I moved from dial up modems to ADSL many years ago Virgin said they had their own equipment at the exchanges. The modem was a shapely camembert sized disc with two leads one to plug into the filter and the other the computer. When Virgin decided to move out of the Openreach fold and plough their own furrow; their copper customers were transferred to TalkTalk.0
