Dell Laptop Error Message: 'Plugged in, Not Charging'

Hi
I have a Dell Latitude E7450.  Recently I noticed that the battery was not charging and I was getting the 'plugged in, not charging' message.
Tried different plug points; removing battery & replacing;  a few online tips but no joy.   However I am able to use the laptop directly off the mains with the charger/adapter plugged in.
I ordered a new battery which I received today and it also displayes the same message!!!  So now I'm thinking it might be an adapter issue, but it still powers the laptop without the battery & I can't find any advice online.  I don't have a spare adapter to try.
Appreciate any guidance.  Thanks

    Is it the original charger?
Dell laptops are a unique beast in which they won't charge the battery if the laptop knows its not a genuine charger, or a compatible charger that signals in some way that its genuine even when it isn't.

Yes, it is a genuine Dell charger - the LED is fully lit up as it powers the laptop when battery is removed

Then if you've replaced the battery and the matter isn't resolved, a new charger is needed.  The lighting of the LED doesn't prove anything, all that means is it has power, not that its providing the right power.

Make sure it's not one of those cheap Chinese OEM " burn the house down" chargers .
Buy a decent dell or branded charger

Many moons ago, I bought a refurb dell laptop from MSC (?) which had this issue. IIRC, there was a problem with the actual charging port.
Maybe get a torch and check there first??

sounds like the charging circuit has gone - if you check the repair manual for your model you may find it's on a discrete pcb rather than on the motherboard itself (many Dells are built like that). If it's a discrete board - easy to change out. IF it's on the mobo - get used to using it plugged in.....

I wouldn't buy anything Chinese, not now.

Try uninstalling the 'Microsoft ACPI Control method battery' under 'batteries' in 'device manager' then right click, 'scan for hardware changes' and let it reinstall - has worked for me in the past.
I have a dell laptop for work and mine did the same - IT insisted on trying a new charger. I didn't believe them, but it worked. The old charger looked ok, the led was on etc, it would keep the laptop going, but not charge the battery

I tried this and a few other online suggestions but no joy.  I think it might be the charging pin or the charging port
