probate cheque not yet cashed?something gone wrong

I posted the probate forms (signed for first class)  along with a cheque around 10 days ago,  but the cheque has not been put through yet. I am now worrying it has not been received. Does anyone know whether cheques are only put through when the process is started at their end?

I have just checked (2 years ago) - took 7 days to cash cheque after I hand delivered stuff. Maybe wait a bit longer?

If you sent there forms signed for delivery have you checked via Royal Mail's website that it was received?

Yes I have now checked and it was delivered on the 16th so maybe I will leave it a few more days and keep fingers crossed. Many thanks.

I posted Probate application 21 May 2018; cheque cleared 31 May. Inevitably they'll be slower due to Covid, working from home etc.

Just as an update on timescales,  I have now  received an email from HMCTS confirming receipt of the application, and subject to no further investigation, can expect to hear more from them  in 8 weeks.
