ID verification video call for land registry

Hi, I need my identity verified via video call (due to covid) by a solicitor/barristor/notary public etc. to change the register for a property I've inherited with the Land Registry. Conveyancers offer the service for £100+. Does anyone know a cheaper alternative? Specifically I need forms ID1 and ID5 completed.
Thanks!

I've never heard of ID1 being done by video call. But if it can be (and you've found a solicitor who'll do it) all I can suggest is that you shop around. At least you won't be limited to only local firms!

Hi there!  You can have your identity validated by video call - it's a temporary procedure because of the pandemic.  You will need ID5 form if you use a conveyancer.

The cheaper option is if you know someone in one of the following professions who can do it.  The free option is if they agree to do it as a personal favour to you!  For this, you will need an ID3 form:

    ·        Medical doctor

    ·        Dentist

    ·        Chartered or certified accountant

    ·        Police officer

    ·        Magistrate

    ·        Veterinary surgeon

    ·        Bank official or regulated financial adviser

    ·        Member of Parliament or Senedd

    ·        Teacher

    ·        College and university teaching staff

    ·        UK civil servant of senior executive officer (SEO) grade or above

    ·        An officer in the UK armed forces

    Good luck.

I would post the link to the guidance, but as a newbie I am not allowed to post links just yet. Sorry!

If you Google "ID3 Land Registry" and click the link that says "Temporary Changes to HM Land Registry's Evidence ..." it will take you to the relevant guidance.

ID3 can also be done via video call if COVID makes the face-to-face verification difficult.
