Ok, would a doctors letter be something you could obtain? Mental illnesses certainly covered in the exemptions.

Yes, I'm under the Doctors for mental health so this is something I could obtain.

Well that is sorted then. If challenged, produce the letter. Same applies within the airport. Going abroad though you may encounter difficulties with the local language and different rules.

Which country are you flying to?

The airline will let you on with the letter, and the airport here will let you in. Its the destination which may be your issue.
  • Virgin to USA, but that looks like it's sorted 🤞 Ryanair and easyjet are both Spain.  Been on the phone most of this afternoon, it's so draining for something that's suppose to be enjoyable.  I'll try again tomorrow.

Why are you wasting time ringing them? As already said the airlines will be fine if you have a letter, they cant ignore the exemptions.

It may seem like a waste of time to most, however I would rather waste time now ensuring I know what's what and knowing exactly what would be required then to turn up at the airport and have to deal with someone who doesn't know the full process.  I'm also trying to find out what my cancellation options are, as much as I can't wear as mask I'm not sure I'd actually want to travel without one.

It might be worth checking the laws for USA & Spain - I know that Spain has fines now if you're not wearing a mask in certain places.

Depending in when you are travelling, the US has given no indication at all that it is going to open to UK citizens anytime soon, so if you have bought a package holiday it will be cancelled anyway
