Amazon Tracking Live Map

A few weeks ago I had a parcel delivered and a map appeared on the tracking showing where the driver was and how far away, since then I have bought some other items but the map does not appear, does anyone know why the map sometimes appears and sometimes it doesn't.
The items were delivered by Amazon not a independent seller as I live in a flat complex I prefer to know when the items will be arriving as the driver tend to buzz the door and walk off leaving the parcels outside for anyone passer by to pick up before I get downstairs.
I have prime so i thought the map would automatically appear

It works for me but only when they get 7 stops away. If you download their app you should get notifications of all of this.
  • Yes the map only seems to show for me once they get close by. It should still give estimates times and that tends to update as times progress.

I understand the issue with the flat complex as I live in one too and I get a bit paranoid that someone else might pick the item up before so get down three flights of stairs.

No I just had the parcel delivered now, was a bit of a farce he was buzzing the front door then brought the wrong parcel had to go back to the van buzz again etc but there was no map only 10.45am - 1,45pm estimated time.

I tried the app and the same no map.

I think it's an aim but not a guarantee for Amazon to provide such a high level of tracking all the time, unlike say DPD.

Prime has nothing to do with it as far as I'm aware.

Perhaps today the system wasn't working or just unavailable for your delivery driver?

I'm not sure how it works but maybe your depot has had persistent issues with it which is why you've had deliveries without.

You could always email Amazon and ask why you are not always getting the tracking map.

Mine mostly do but by no means all. One parcel arrived a few weeks ago unexpectedly , the tracking still showed as at depot.

I went on live chat and spoke to a foreign call centre he told me my package got lost yesterday and did I need a replacement. So closed the window when he didn't know  what tracking was.
  • I have a amazon delivery today, it’s updated to say between 5.45 and 8.45 but no nap, I’ll update you later as to whether the map displays nearer the time.

I don't recall ever having a map show up for Amazon, regardless of Prime or not. Hermes used to sometimes show a map, and the 'more professional' (I can't think of how else to describe them) couriers like DPD often do.

The map is great when it works it shows you where the driver is up to 10 stops before your parcel is delivered, I wonder if there has been some kind of security issue with the map showing the 10 streets before yours but it really did save a lot of waiting.

I did wonder how accurate that map was. My driver was a couple of streets away then a few streets away in the opposite direction.
Thought it strange why he would pass me but then they were a good mile or so away from my location. They delivered about
    half an hour later.

Wonder if the route is auto generated by a computer or can the driver change things around if they know the area well? Must the driver
do the deliveries in the order given?

Map only shows a rough location so unlikely to be a security/private data issue.  Unless your the only property in that area.
