Holiday/hotel cancelled but not flights

The holiday I booked to go on in August has been cancelled by the Holiday company, but I can see the flights I booked separately with Ryan Air are not cancelled. Should I wait and see if they cancel them, (which I think is unlikely) or contact them now for a refund? Am I even entitled to a refund? I'd be grateful for any advice. TIA.

Is it a package holiday ?

In the current scheme of things August is a long way off , most companies are only looking 2 weeks forward from today

If you booked flights and hotel separately then you are not entitled to a hotel refund unless the terms and conditions say so or they are closed

No, I booked a holiday which included hotel. The flights I had to book separately. The holiday company has given me a voucher which I am happy to use another time. My question is about getting a refund or voucher from Ryan Air...?

the hotel being cancelled is not Ryanair problem. So unless the flight gets cancelled you can either cancel the flights under the normal terms and conditions or still go and stay somewhere else.

The same principle applies - if you booked separately then the hotel cancelling doesn't entitle you to a refund of the flights if they're still operating.  So, nothing to be gained by you cancelling the flights at this stage, you'd be best to just wait and see if Ryanair cancel them closer to the time, which would justify a refund.

Yes, that's what I thought. I'll hang tight for a bit. Just wondering if there is a penalty for cancelling closer to the time, does anyone know? Wondering if it's better to give 30 days notice or anything like that?

Not sure what sort of penalty you have in mind - if you cancel, you lose whatever you've paid, regardless of when you do so, without any right to any refund, with the exception of being able to reclaim government taxes.

I wasn't going to cancel, but ask if I can reschedule to next year...

If you are rescheduling you probably have more luck.
