I offered my tv license , even though it’s valid . It’s dated longer than 3 months. So no. Then I offered my council tax - which was in 3 months , but it’s in Welsh . They told me it would need to be translated. Each time involves a phone conversation so they can go away and check, then they reply by letter and another form.0

So I did ask my utility provider for a paper bill. There is a charge for that. What I am finding frustrating is their inflexible attitude , to any of the documentation or methods of delivery. They refuse to engage in any communication by email.
The original policy was sold to my parents at a bank. Explicitly telling her that it would not be part of the estate and it would be “easy” to claim and quick to get the money for any beneficiary. All I would need to do is come to the bank with ID and and a death certificate to claim. Meaning I could pay bills and live while waiting for the probate . I know as I was there.Since then the policy has been sold on to a different company..... and nothing it’s not easy.0 -
Old_Lifer said:Ah, so you don't have the policy? In that case it would be quite normal to send-out a Statutory Declaration ( perhaps called a Lost Policy Form or something similar nowadays) which is designed to protect them against a further claim. iSo now the next set of forms is the indemnity and the identity forms. Plus the requests for original documentation. For which I keep offering different types of Official gov/council issued paperwork . But they keep refusing it . ( can’t be online/downloaded, can’t be older than 3 month, can’t be in welsh ......). Each time it’s involves a phone call and then I wait for a letter in reply. Oh and the value isn’t huge (less that 15k) , but it’s a lifeline for me during these times.0

I also have hearing difficulties. So I do ask the caller to repeat themselves when the answer as I may have missed something they say. A few have clearly lost their patience with me and have been almost rude as I do repeat questions to get clarity. (Hence previous payment of 150gbp for “goodwill”). They don’t offer any alternate method of communication - only letters which is slow.0

One of the main reasons my parents took the policy out at the bank was the face to face interaction I could have with them . Now with the sale of the policy, they do not have an office for me see people and show them all the documentation I have.0

I’ve gone paperless , no printer. No access to a printer either. I also don’t have any “paper” versions of utility bills.
You are making it more difficult for yourself. its one thing being paperless but not having the ability to turn electronic documents into paper is not a good idea.

Why don't you just get your council tax bill translated and get a paper version of a utility bill and send them in. Think its time you drew this to a conclusion0

I have downloaded pdf versions of utility bills and bank statements. They tell me that I can’t use them, not acceptable. Even if I print it out .
They wont know if you have printed them or not unless the printer you use is really naff. We never have any problems with proper statements printed locally unless a client has printed it themselves on the equivalent of toilet paper with ink colours mismatched.
