I recall the picture had a stamp on it saying served by the solicitors, therefore it hasn't been served by the courts merely issued by them, sent to the solicitors so they could post it and confirm they have served proceedings.

Sheffield may be the local court to the claimant, it may be the local court to the solicitors, it may even just be the court the solicitors commenced court proceedings from.

It sounds like the papers have been correctly served then if they've come from a solicitor and not through MCOL.

It definitely wasn't MCOL and any litigation lawyer would know not to use it and to serve proceedings themselves. Which is what these have done.

Doesn't help OP as he is determined to dispute jurisdiction, but needs to focus on the actual debt and what to do about that. Meter readings, old bills etc would help to work out whether the debt is right or not and this is not the board for this whole issue as not many people use it and other boards are more suitable where people can help with the litigation side and working out if there is a debt or not.

This is absolutely correct. Op you need to start working on a defence as there is no jurisdiction problem. The papers are correctly served for a Scottish case.

Possibly because the case numbers were left on. I'm guessing though as I haven't seen this anywhere else. I hate to say but the £100 to contest jurisdiction isn't refundable.
  • I didn't think it was that much, I though I seen it was only £16

Contact one of the board guides and ask them to move this to a more suitable section.
