Basic bank account

hi all,
so i have really good credit history, i always get accepted for loans with advertised rate etc i have a good mortgage rate and a low apr credit card with a generous credit limit.
but my girlfriend has always had a basic bank account with HSBC, this comes up on her credit report as "basic bank account" not "current account" like regular bank accounts do, her credit score is now cleared up of a CCJ she once had, so i convinced her to get a aqua credit building card which shes had for 1+ year and always paid in full and on time so her credit history must be getting better, but im just wondering if when she goes to apply for loans, credit cards (with better providers, eg barclaycard or santander) or car finance would her having a basic bank account effect her application in a negative way? she wants to keep the account and anyways HSBC wont upgrade her to a standard account

Having a basic account should not affect any credit application.
If HSBC won't upgrade why not open a new account with someone else?
Worse case scenario she'll end up with another Basic account with a new bank or she may be offered a full current account.1 -
hey, nationwide let you do an eligibility checker for their current accounts so we've just done that now, they'll offer her a flexaccount which isn't their basic account but shes decided she likes HSBC so will stay with them. i think it also gives her the incentive to keep trying to build her credit history because HSBC will upgrade in the future hopefullyjonesMUFCforever said:Having a basic account should not affect any credit application.

I have a basic account which I use for matched betting to keep it separate from my day to day banking. When I applied for a mortgage as a FTB last year I provided recent statements as requested by my lender, there were no issues whatsoever despite hundreds of pounds circulating in and out through bookmakers accounts...
