Furlough pay paid wrong?

My husband was furloughed from the end of march  as he works hospitality. His last pay prior to his furlough was 30th March. He was subsequently paid 80% of his usual salary in the 12th May and 8th June. The next pay should theoretically be the 6th July...

But he is usually paid every 28 days which means he should have been paid his first pay on the 27th April and because of the delay he is now owed 2 weeks that haven't been paid. We're not in a bad situation as I also am earning furlough so no emergency, but I'm due to give birth in 5 weeks and that money would definitely help!

If he raises this with his employer, is it possible for them to backdate the furlough pay that was missed... Honestly it's a shoddily run company anyway and I'm pretty sure they just didn't apply for it soon enough and are now trying to play it off!!

What his employer recovers from the CJRS ought to be irrelevant, except that they cannot pay your husband less than they receive for his net pay. If they didn't claim for a couple of weeks that is their problem, unless they transferred the risk to him under the furlough agreement. He should ask why he hasn't been paid for all of the time he was furloughed. If the company pay him less than 80% of his reference salary that can invalidate their claim under CJRS for him.

If they applied for it then they need to pay him. If they did not apply for it then if they need to pay him will depend what his contract says about pay and what was agreed when he went on to furlough. If they can get the money back from the government or not is not relevant.

In which case, you'll have the money 3 weeks before the due date?

Not being rude, but I don't think you're doing too bad if you're both on furlough.  There are stories on these boards of those who have absolutely no support at all at the current time, and haven't had for months.  I'm talking about new starters and such like.
  • Good Morning. My niece who is a beautician was put on Furlough mid March but her employer now tells her the accountant did not request the funds so she didn`t receive any money. Can we take the employer to court?

Your post has nothing to do with the subject of this thread.  Please repost on your own thread rather than on someone else's.  You may wish to add more detail (i.e. did your daughter get paid anything by the employer during the whole period)
