Credit Card Refund

I recently applied for an AirBnB refund and was shocked to receive confirmation that the refund was granted a mere 12 hours after requesting it. I paid using a credit card so the refund will be going to the same card.

My question is... will the refund go straight to paying off my current credit card debt balance or will I be able to keep the balance and receive the cash back to my main account? I remember reading somewhere that this may be possible but I may be mistaken. The problem is that I paid on behalf of a number of people, so am required to give them their money back.

  • The money will go to paying off your credit card balance

if there is any left over so to speak taking you into a positive credit card balance then this amount you can request to be transferred to your bank account
  • As an addition I would just say that I have been very impressed with airbnb and they will be one of the companies coming out of this with enhanced customer service reputation

    Sometimes.
Some lenders don’t count credits or refunds as payments towards balances and therefore won’t adjust any upcoming direct debit payments.

I managed to get the whole of my £5k+ holiday refund, made to my Barclaycard, transferred to my current account with a live chat request.

At the time there was only current spending on the card since previous statement, as I always pay in full every month.
