Electric scooters ?

Having seen how some riders use their scooters I think they should be banned completely. Their is no test for riders, not insured, not taxed, no safety gear and can only be used on the road. Most don't seem to understand how to treat cars and pedestrians and don't think the highway code applies to them.Sits back and waits for disagreements.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.3

I have could get an electric scooter as a temporary aid, to help me walk the dog.Very unlikely to get stopped by the police.I'm starting to get joint pains, and although I don't have any problem walking yet, I love cycling, so I had a look at e-bikes.Totally unsuitable as you have to pedal all the time for the motor to kick in- I think it is the joint rotation that is my problem, not the effort. They also seem stupidly low geared to me, I don't think I could pedal fast enough to reach 15mph, I could easily pedal my mountain 'bike at 18-20mph.I wanted a "get you home" e-bike in case of misjudging the distance I can pedal.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

That is why it would be daft to enforce any law that makes e-scooters illegal. Yes, fine any bike/scooter driven dangerously or recklessly, but not single out one mode of transport.facade said:I'm starting to get joint pains, and although I don't have any problem walking yet, I love cycling, so I had a look at e-bikes.

That type of scooter requires both licence and insurance. Also VED.twhitehousescat said:0 -
Look at the pedals and "fake plate". I suspect it's legally an EAPC.Grumpy_chap said:

A young lad shot out in front of me yesterday on one of these lethal electric scooters. I didn't have the opportunity to remind him that riding these wretched things is only legal on private land. If the government does change the law, I hope it insists on age limits, helmet, insurance and training.1

Riding a push bike carelessly or dangerously are offences.Simply using a scooter on the road at all is an offence.
