Packaged bank account charges

Have I missed something here? On what grounds were you wanting to reclaim your package charge?

I bank with Lloyds part of LBG (includes Halifax) - I get a yearly letter to ask whether the account I pay for is still suitable for me.
Those letters have been key to allowing the banks to start the three year timebar clock. They are also used in evidence when people make a complaint saying they didnt know they had a choice etc. They are one of the major reasons why the uphold rate on complaints is now so low.
Have I missed something here? On what grounds were you wanting to reclaim your package charge? This is key. The complaint has already been made and now rejected. We need to know the complaint reasons given to be able to say whether they are viable reasons or rubbish reasons. And once the rejection letter has been received, the reasons for the rejection would need to be known as we can then say whether the reasons given are correct are not.

Over what time scales are we talking here?

They will have records of when these letters were sent - if you did not respond to any of these then perhaps that is why they have refused your complaint.
If the OP believes that he is being missold a package then why was this not questioned years ago and be switched to one more appropriate. The opportunity to do so will have been clearly highlighted by the Halifax on each occasion so I would be interested to learn more of the facts behind this claim.
It may do many of us a favour.1
