Holiday let for Hen Do

Afternoon,
My wife has been battling to try and get a holiday let (for a hen do) cancelled due to the current coronavirus.
Even despite the new rules today saying that no more than two household can meet inside, the owner of the property is saying that this is only 'advisory' and will not cancel the booking.
She is telling us to contact our travel insurance, which we haven't got as we never expected this to happen (guess that's a lesson learnt.
What can we do?
Thanks in advance.

I can't see any avenues being open - if the property is available for occupancy then the owner isn't in breach in any way and can hardly be held responsible for the constitution of the party. There wouldn't seem to be any basis for chargeback or s75 claims and so if there's no insurance then it looks like there's no route to a refund.0

You have paid for a holiday let and you are getting a holiday let. It is not the owner's fault that you all live in different houses. One option is all to pay what you were going to pay anyway and draw lots to see who has a nice holiday.
Forgot to add when is this holiday let for? as the rules might change again before then.
