Saga car insurance cheaper quote on moneysupermarket

Time to renew car insurance.  The moneysupermarket quote is £40 cheaper than the quote I received from saga.  It seems if I go as new customer it will be cheaper.  Will be looking somewhere else.

Make sure that all the excesses etc are identical to those in your renewal quote. It's also worth phoning up to haggle and get a reduction. What annoys me is the additional cost they include (about £20 or so) because they are acting on behalf of another company (can't remember the details). Parts of their policy are very good but other companies have other benefits included as standard.

I used to be with Saga but moved to LV and also got cashback from Quidco. Saved about £60 overall.

    Phone up and tell them.

I'm with LV for car insurance, found a cheaper price with them on comparethemarket, then on the phone they offered me a price even cheaper still.

I've also noticed the prices for the same insurance companies vary between comparison sites too.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear it in 2026.
  • Had a renewal quote from More Than for £994.08. Have been with them over 12 years. Checked online and got a quote from them for £272.83, with better features. When I phoned them I was just told that some people prefer the old style policies. I asked why I am being financially penalised for being loyal, and they did not answer, and just said I could cancel my policy. I feel completely ripped off, and wonder how and who I speak to about getting someone to look into this. I paid them £1036.80 last year.

There's no one to speak to regarding looking into as they've not done anything wrong.

If you read Martin's advice on this site he clearly suggests never ever renew something without checking the price available elsewhere.
Sorry this is all on you and you should have been checking the price of the insurance every year for the last 12 and comparing it with your renewal offer.

Odd that you managed to get a quote from SAGA when your already a customer. When my parents
were with them I had to be creative with the names and address to get it to quote, otherwise it just
    said see your renewal.

Oops it was not a quote it was a renewal letter. I phoned and I actually got a discount and paid less than last year.  It does pay to phone.
