Covid 19 Extension of car MOT

Silly question, my MOT ran out at the start of June so by my calculations I'm allowed to carry on driving it if it's in a roadworthy condition for another 6 months under the existing MOT.
But if I take the MOT extension to its maximum i.e. December and have it MOT'd will this mean I can drive my car for another 12 months from this date or have to resubmit my car for another MOT in 6 months i.e. 12 months from the expiry of my original certificate?

Not a silly question, just one that has been asked a few times already.Your new MOT will be valid for 12 months as normal.1

As said 12 months.
Note that if you use the extension, if your car fails the MOT in December (or whenever you do it) the extension immediately becomes void.0
