Deposit refund

We booked a holiday in February this year. We were due to fly in September but the hospital has said my mum can't go due to being in a covid vulnerable group - she us still shielding. We are due to pay the balance by July 4th so obviously we won't now. Does anyone know if we wil get the deposit back. What else is frustrating if that tui have said they are contacting September holiday bookings by 17th July to say if they are going ahead. So the holiday may be cancelled anyway!! Any advice please?

    "Shielding" finishes on the 1st August. If the holiday isnt cancelled by TUI and you choose not to pay the full balance then you will forfeit the deposit.

    As above if the holiday is cancelled by tui then you would get a refund. Unlikely now unless there is a second wave. So you will have to decide if you want to go or not. Plus I also doubt the hospital said that she can’t go just they do not recommend it a complete difference.

    I was in the same in March boat for a holiday in April. I decided to pay the balance. Holiday was cancelled and I have been offered a voucher only. 
    I am kicking myself for not cancelling and forfeiting my deposit.
