Hi I was listening to the radio and Martin mentioned a few apps that can help identify recurring payments. Can anyone recommend any for the UK (there seem to be lots for the US)
Mega thanks

Smartbill is the only one mentioned at https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/direct-debit/#help but, despite the way its FAQ page tries to dress it up as something clever, it really shouldn't be difficult to analyse statements downloaded from online banking, etc, to identify regular outgoings that don't fall into other categories. However, it's free, so no harm in trying it out, if you're happy to grant access to your bank account(s) and credit card(s) and are prepared to put up with helpful 'suggestions' about how to save money....How do you find my recurring payments?
We have carefully devised a system to identify all of the regular payments being taken from your account. This includes those that are easily visible on your bank statements (i.e. Direct Debits) and also those nasty recurring charges often hidden in your transaction history.0 -
I've recently started to use Yolt which is an app which brings together my accounts and shows all transactions across 2 current accounts, 1 credit card and 2 savings accounts, including future payments - I've recently identified a few (low value) DDs via the app for things I no longer use (that don't come out every month) and which I'd sort of forgotten about... all have now been cancelled.
Yolt also analyses your spending across multiple accounts, and can allow you to set your own specified budget, or will create a budget based on your last 3 months of spending. It's still early days for me, but I think this might prove to be a good tool to understand where my money goes, and to improve my saving levels... It's not a total solution though, as it doesn't currently allow me to integrate a couple of my savings accounts, so my spreadsheet can't be retired just yet.

Would be interesting as even banks do not know which are recurring payments as they are not identified in anyway.
I guess the apps must have been inputted with all the known ones. Which is how we identify them when people ask. It's just experience of seeing the same co's/amounts every month etc.Life in the slow lane0
