Firefox Query

I like Firefox and did have a problem last February and someone suggested why I had the problem.   I got it sorted and all well until Sunday 21st.

Every time I tried to open it crashed in the blink of an eye non-stop, I kept getting the Crash Report coming up.  Moved to Edge to find out a fix none of which helped as Firefox did not even open to going into to try to fix Safe Mode included.

Decided to uninstall no problem then reinstalled and got the Refresh as well so let it go through.  The fresh install has actually taken me back to the old layout I had before that last bigger update.  I checked and it shows 77.1 and it is stable and working fine.   I just let Firefox update its self and the one that crashed was the newer layout.

Okay, now to my query when I search it shows that there is a 78 version but I am not sure if this was the one I was on?    Or a 77 but higher than the 77.1?   Oh and has anyone else had the crashing problem at the weekend?

In almost all cases of crashes with browsers that use profiles (like Firefox, Chrome and I believe Opera), the issue is almost always caused by an extension or a corrupt profile.

So start Firefox in Safe Mode (Firefox Safe Mode, not Windows Safe Mode which is an entirely different thing) as per dan958's link and see if the issue goes away.  If it does, an extension is causing it.  If it doesn't, its most probably a profile.  You can create a new one thus:

That is what I mean I could not even open Firefox at all straight to crash on Sunday.   I did look at the how-to-fix crash on Edge but as I could not even get Firefox to open could not do any of the fixes.  I could not even get to safe mode then.

I did the refresh and that is what seemed to work but has taken me back to an older version but I am happy with.  I will try your suggestion Neil_Jones.

It shows 2 profiles one has a Yes which means I am using that one.

The other has a No, should I change it to a  yes and change the other to the No?

Sorry, not the brightest with tech sometimes.
